ABOUT US
The Papua New Guinea Baseball and Softball Federation (PNGBSF) is the national governing body responsible for the promotion, development, and administration of baseball and softball throughout Papua New Guinea. It oversees both men’s and women’s programs, as well as youth development initiatives aimed at growing participation in the two sports at the grassroots level.
The federation operates under the umbrella of the Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation (PNGSF) and is affiliated with the Oceania Softball Confederation (OSC) and the Oceania Baseball Confederation (OBC), which link it to the global governing bodies — the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and its regional arms. Through these affiliations, PNGBSF ensures that local competitions and development programs align with international standards and provide pathways for national teams to participate in regional and international tournaments.
In recent years, the federation has focused on revitalizing both baseball and softball by introducing school-based programs, organizing regional tournaments, and rebuilding infrastructure in key centers such as Port Moresby, Lae, and Madang. It also places a strong emphasis on coaching and umpiring clinics to build technical capacity among officials and volunteers.
